William Strauss Motter
William Strauss Motter, the eldest of four children of George and Margaret Strauss, was born in York, Pa on November 19, 1896. While a sophomore at the University of Pennsylvania he and his fellow Penn student Samuel Brenner enlisted at Columbus Barracks, Ohio on March 16, 1918. He attended aviation school at Kelly Field Texas until June 20, 1918. He was a private in the 85th, 137th, 407th, and 254th Aero Squadrons serving in Europe…
